Visual impact assessment of the Bru na Boinne World Heritage Site
Dr. Charles Mount prepared the visual impact assessment of a proposed development near Sheepgrange, Co. Louth on the Bru na Boinne World Heritage Site which was inscribed onto the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1993. Within the area of the World Heritage Site there are a number of National Monuments and Recorded Monuments protected under the National Monuments Acts (1930-2004) and the Planning and Development Acts. Meath Co. Council has accorded the area of the World Heritage Site a planning status through the inclusion of a number of policies and objectives in its County Development Plan.

Visual impact concerns the potential impacts on views across the landscape and the effects of changes to those views. The assessment invoved the selection of key viewing points within the World Heritage Site, analysis of the existing views, analysis of the proposed views and a statement of visual impact.
